SA Social Entrepreneur Wins Innovation Award

The founder of a non-profit, leadership and education development organisation in South Africa has been awarded top honours by an international innovation company.

Earlier this week, Dr Louise van Rhyn, the founder of Symphonia for South Africa, won the Ideas Into Practice award at the Thinkers50 Awards Gala 2021, which took place earlier this week.

Through Dr van Rhyn’s efforts, she launched Symphonia’s acclaimed Partners for Possibility (PfP) programme in 2010. The programme is designed to provide access to powerful business and management ideas, based on the belief that ideas have the power to improve the quality of education and change the world.

For the past 11 years, the PfP programme has been engaging with business leaders and school principals to address challenges in schools, providing workshops and training courses to help them realise their leadership potential.

Dorcas Dube, the marketing and communication manager for Symphonia, lauded Dr van Rhyn for her award in a press release: “This latest validation is not only a phenomenal recognition of Louise’s tenacity and tireless dedication to creating and building the PfP programme, but a testament to her success in following her life’s purpose: creating a better future for ALL.”
