Salah Named the FWA Footballer of the Year
Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah, has been named the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Men’s Footballer of the Year for 2021/22 on Friday, 29 April.
News of Salah’s victory comes as no surprise as the Reds’ magician has already netted 30 goals and 14 assists for this season.
The Egyptian’s 2021/22 impressive run has helped Liverpool to win the League Cup (Carabao), as well as reach the final of the FA Cup and the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The club is now fighting for a quadruple of titles – currently occupying the second position on the EPL table – with just one point behind champions, Man City, and only 5 games remaining.
This is the second time the 29-year-old forward has won the FWA Footballer of the Year award. Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, is the only man who has won it on three occasions.
Manchester City midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, took second place while West Ham midfielder Declan Rice was voted third.
