The Reason Why Nicki Minaj No-Showed the Met Gala

The evening of Monday, 13 September saw a whole host of stars gracing the red carpet of the 2021 Met Gala in New York City … except for Nicki Minaj.

Taking to Twitter that night, the 38-year-old “Anaconda” rapper tweeted out why she wasn’t attending the prestigious event: because the guests – including the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Madonna and Lil Nas X among others – had to show proof of a coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination.

Minaj wrote: “They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if [sic] I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now.”

In response to fans who attempted to sway her stance, she claimed that her cousin in Trinidad refuses to get vaccinated because “his friend got it & [sic] became impotent”, which led to the friend’s upcoming wedding being called off.

Per scientific research, there is no evidence that COVID-19 vaccines cause infertility; rather, it maximises one’s protection one from all virus variants and their symptoms.

Despite the worrying tweets, Minaj concluded by promising to get the jab in due time.
