Thieves Burgle DJ Tira’s Recording Studio

DJ Tira is offering a big-money reward to anyone who can shed light on the robbery that took place at his recording studio in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

Speaking to a local media outlet on Thursday, 25 April, office manager Samkelo Mpisane revealed that Afrotainment Studios had been broken into the night before while DJ Tira was in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

“They took everything,” Mpisane said. “You can tell that they have been planning this robbery.”

In addition to musical instruments and expensive studio equipment – from keyboards and microphones to speakers and mixers – hard drives containing unreleased music were also stolen.

“What hurts the most is the fact we lost music,” DJ Tira told the same publication. “Some of our artists were preparing to release their albums soon, and all their efforts are gone just like that. This is so heartbreaking.”

The “Cele Skhulume” hitmaker is offering R20 000 to anyone who comes forward with useful information about the culprits and the stolen assets.

A police investigation is currently underway.
