Thuli Phongolo Axed From “The Wife”
Thuli Phongolo has been written out of the Showmax telenovela, “The Wife”.
On Thursday, 6 January, entertainment commentator Phil Mphela revealed why Phongolo – who played the role of Lerato – got the axe on Twitter.
“The role of Lerato on #TheWifeShowmax, has unexpectedly been written out of the show,” Mphela wrote. “Sources claim the decision was made to drop the role due to Phongolo going M.I.A. [missing in action].”
While some have attributed the 27-year-old’s absence to her busy schedule – as she also works as a deejay – others reckoned that she had no acting skills.
“She’s rude and unappreciative,” a harsh tweep commented. “Somebody else who’s probably more talented would kill for this role.”
Another tweep went and criticised “The Wife” in general: “Please tell them to rewrite the entire series and base it on the book. Increase the budget for the series, hire proper talented writers, editors, cameras, etc. What we are currently seeing is mediocrity at its highest level. I am not impressed at all by that series.”
Phongolo has yet to comment on her reported axing.
