Trevor Noah Bags Emmy Nomination!

Trevor Noah has once again done Mzansi proud after bagging an Emmy Award nomination.

On Wednesday, 12 July, Noah scored a nod in the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) category for his 2022 comedy special, “Trevor Noah: I Wish You Would”. His fellow nominees include Carol Burnett, John Mulaney, Lizzo, Norman Lear and Wanda Sykes.

The 39-year-old tweeted about the exciting news on the same day: “Wow … Having my @Netflix special “I wish you would” nominated for an Emmy is absolutely mind blowing but to be in the same category as @imcarolburnett, @Lizzo, John @Mulaney, @TheNormanLear, & @iamwandasykes?? How is this life?? [sic]”

A grateful Noah added: “Thank you so much to everyone who watched and everyone who voted.”

Additionally, he scored three other Emmy nominations for “The Daily Show” – which he hosted from 2015 to 2022 – in the following categories: Variety Talk Series; Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming; and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.

The 2023 Emmy Awards is set to air on 19 September – here’s hoping that Noah will take home the trophies!
