West Ham Secure Signing of Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham
West Ham United announced the signing of experienced goalkeeper, Wes Foderingham, on a two-year deal via their official website on Thursday, 27 June.
The 33-year-old free agent will join the club on 1 July, as his contract with Sheffield United has expired. He made 30 English Premier League (EPL) appearances in the 2023/24 season during his time with the Blades.
Foderingham brings a wealth of experience, having played nearly 500 senior matches and winning silverware at both Rangers and Swindon Town. He will provide valuable competition for current goalkeepers Alphonse Areola and Łukasz Fabiański, under the guidance of goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero.
Expressing his excitement about the move, the new signee said, “It feels brilliant to be a Hammer! I’ve been fortunate to play for teams with a strong, passionate fanbase, and West Ham are no different. The club has gone from strength to strength, and I think I’m joining at a very, very good time as it’s a positive time for the Club.”
Foderingham is the second signing under new manager Julen Lopetegui, following Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme. West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten, praised Foderingham’s EPL experience and anticipates a positive impact on the squad.
