Whoopi Goldberg Touts Weight-Loss Drug

Whoopi Goldberg is the latest celeb to turn to prescription medication for losing weight – but it’s not Ozempic!

For the past few months, celebrities such as Sharon Osbourne, Tracy Morgan and Oprah Winfrey have been raving about the slimming benefits of Ozempic, a medication primarily used to treat Type II diabetes, despite not being officially approved for weight loss.

Amid the controversial Ozempic craze, Goldberg revealed to her fellow talk show panellists on “The View” that she was taking a diabetic medication called Mounjaro to help her shed some weight.

“I weighed almost 300 pounds [136kg] when I made ‘Till’ [in 2021],” the 68-year-old “Ghost” star told them in an episode that aired on Tuesday, 19 March.

“I had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff, and one of the things that’s helped me drop the weight is Mounjaro – that’s what I use.”

Having experienced ups-and-downs with her weight over the years, Goldberg turned to Mounjaro – which medical experts say is generally safe for weight loss – as a last resort because there was a “lot of me.”

“You have to … see what’s going on with your body, and there’s nothing wrong [with taking weight-loss drugs],” she said. “Stuff happens, you hit a certain age and everything falls to the ground, you know, you just pick it up, put it over the back and keep it moving.”
