Katy Perry Denies Assault Allegations

Australian actress Ruby Rose has sparked a high-profile controversy by accusing pop star Katy Perry of sexual assault. In a series of graphic posts shared on the social media platform Threads on 12 April 2026, Rose alleged that the incident occurred nearly two decades ago at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne.

Rose, 40, claimed she was in her early twenties when the non-consensual encounter took place. She described the trauma of the event, explaining that she had previously framed it as a “funny little drunk story” because she “didn’t know how else to handle it.”

Rose further noted that her silence was partly due to Perry later helping her secure a U.S. visa. “It has taken almost two decades to say this publicly,” Rose wrote, adding, “I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice.”

Katy Perry, 41, has vehemently denied the claims. A representative for the singer issued a statement labelling the accusations as “categorically false” and “dangerous, reckless lies.”

The spokesperson added that Rose has a “well-documented history of making serious public allegations” against various individuals.

Her most notable claims were directed at the Batwoman production in 2021, where she accused former Warner Bros. chairman Peter Roth of “abuse of power,” showrunner Caroline Dries of neglecting safety protocols, and co-star Dougray Scott of being a “nightmare” who abused women on set.

Additionally, Rose had a public fallout with The Veronicas, specifically ex-girlfriend Jessica Origliasso, whom she alluded to as being emotionally abusive.

In nearly all these instances, the accused parties, including Warner Bros., Scott, and her former co-stars,have vehemently denied her claims, often characterizing them as “slanderous” or “revisionist history” and citing Rose’s own professional behavior as the actual source of the friction.

As of 13 April, Rose indicated she had consulted with police regarding the matter.
