Amakhosi’s Gaston Sirino Faces Misconduct Allegations
Kaizer Chiefs winger, Gaston Sirino, is reportedly in hot water with the Gauteng outfit.
Ever since he signed a two-year contract with Chiefs in July, the 33-year-old Uruguayan player has been noticeably missing from match play. His absence has been attributed to recurring injuries.
However, recent reports indicate that Sirino may have been faking these injuries. He has also been accused of avoiding training sessions and disregarding club protocol by refusing to undergo medical assessments at Amakhosi’s designated facility.
As such, this alleged misconduct is apparently causing frustration among his teammates and the coaching staff, including manager Nasreddine Nabi.
Legal experts, such as Mpho Nkontlha, believe that Sirino is violating the terms of his contract, which could result in his termination should this misconduct continue.
“Until we hear his side of the story, it would seem he is in the wrong, and the club would not be sanctioned for early termination,” Nkontlha explained to a local soccer outlet on Thursday, 5 December.
Meanwhile, Vina Maphosa, Chiefs’ corporate communications manager, could not confirm or deny the allegations made against Sirino, saying: “I only [confirm what is] true or false on what we published on Chiefs’ [official media channels].”
