Anele Mdoda vs Kelly Rowland: The Swimsuit Saga

Remember that time Anele Mdoda called Kelly Rowland ugly without make-up? Now it seems like Rowland has hit back at the radio personality, and tweeps are loving it!

Back in 2019, Mdoda weighed in on the former Destiny’s Child member’s looks, opining that she wasn’t worth looking at without make-up. This caused a stir on local Twitter and across the pond – to this day, Mdoda trends (and is shaded) whenever Rowland makes the headlines.

On Tuesday, 14 September, the “947” deejay posted photos from her Maldives vacation across her social media accounts. In the pics, she’s outfitted in a mustard-coloured swimsuit while sipping champagne from a pool.

Two days later, Rowland took to Instagram with photos of her own, wearing the exact same swimsuit while chilling in a yacht in Italy.

Naturally, Twitter erupted, with both South Africans and Americans singling out Rowland’s pics as retaliation against Mdoda.

One Mzansi user wrote: “The swimsuit, the setting, and the dates these pictures were posted, make a very compelling argument that Kelly Rowland did this on purpose to make a very loud and clear point.”

A US tweep went the petty route, using the “What I ordered vs What I got” meme to compare Rowland and Mdoda’s photos.

Mdoda has since reposted her photos, wishing her followers and everyone else a good weekend – talk about being unbothered!
