Arsenal Eye a Future With Ivan Toney
Ivan Toney will only see a football pitch by early next year, but Arsenal are plotting to snatch him up.
The 27-year-old Brentford forward was found guilty of breaching the Football Association’s betting rules back in May. He was fined £50 000, and banned from all football and football-related activities until 16 January 2024.
Eight months is an eternity to be out of action, and Toney seems to be already on the market, as Bees boss, Thomas Frank, indirectly admitted to an English sports news outlet that “if the price is there”, then Brentford would be a “selling club”.
“I think if it’s the right time for the player to go … and now they’re proven good enough to go to the top clubs, then I think it’s the right thing, if it’s the right price,” he elaborated.
According to reports, Brentford are looking at a price-tag of £80 million, which would make Toney an expensive target in the Gunners’ crosshairs.
But will they fire off a deal? Only next year will tell.
