Aubameyang Hospitalised with Malaria
Arsenal forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has revealed that he is in hospital getting treated for malaria, a parasite disease he contracted while on international duty with Gabon a few weeks ago.
The Arsenal skipper missed a few games including the important Europa League quarter-final second leg against Slavia Prague on Thursday, 15 April.
The Gunners had made an announcement that the Gabonese forward was absent due to illness without disclosing the sickness, however, a few minutes before the match kickoff, Aubameyang revealed more details.
He said: “Hey guys, thanks for all the messages and calls. Unfortunately, I contracted malaria whilst being on national team duty in Gabon a few weeks ago.”
He added: “I’ve spent a few days in hospital this week but I’m already feeling much better every day, thanks to the great doctors that detected and treated the virus so quickly.”
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has confirmed that his forward is recovering well and that he hopes Aubameyang will be back in action soon.
