Bayern Munich Miss the Mark on Kane’s Valuation
Bayern Munich remain in hot pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur skipper, Harry Kane, despite falling short of the English club’s valuation.
Last month, it emerged that Bayern were keen to sign Kane, whose contract with Spurs expires in 2024. Per reports, the German outfit had initially submitted a £60-million bid for the 30-year-old striker.
On Monday, 31 July, a senior delegation from Bayern – which included chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesden and technical director Marco Neppe – flew from Germany to London, England. There, they met with Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, to open negotiations over Kane’s future.
According to reports, the Bundesliga club is now willing to pay £85.8 million – £77.1 million guaranteed, plus £8.7 million in add-ons – for the illustrious striker’s signature.
Unfortunately for them, this amount is less than £20 million short of Tottenham’s valuation of Kane: not only do Spurs want £100 million guaranteed, but they also want a buy-back clause included in the deal should Kane ever decide to return to the English Premier League.
Negotiations between the two clubs continue.
