Bimenyimana’s Hat-Trick Chalks Up 3-1 Win for Amakhosi

Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana was the beau of the football match after scoring a hat-trick to help Kaizer Chiefs triumph 3-1 over Stellenbosch FC at Cape Town Stadium on Sunday afternoon, 9 October.

Stellies were the first to take the lead in the 29th minute when forward Nhlanhla Mgaga rocketed a perfect strike past goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune. However, Amakhosi would strike back in spectacular fashion.

After being fouled by Mogamed De Goede on the stroke of halftime, Bimenyimana – who joined the Glamour boys in August – successfully converted a penalty kick four minutes into the interval.

Come the 49th minute, the Burundian striker proved his mettle for the second time by scoring another penalty kick. He would convert his third penalty kick in the 56th minute after receiving yet another foul by De Goede, who was red-carded for his efforts.

As a result of his hat-trick, Bimenyimana has become the first player in Premier Soccer League (PSL) history to score a hat-trick from penalties.

Additionally, he has helped boost Kaizer Chiefs to increase their points to 17, thus allowing them to remain at fourth place on the PSL rankings.
