Bonang Matheba Wins Court Case Against Rea Gopane
Bonang Matheba has come out on top in her legal battle against YouTuber Rea Gopane.
It all started in May last year when Gopane accused Matheba in his podcast, “Everything SA Music TV”, of introducing her ex-boyfriend, AKA, to substance abuse.
In response, the media personality launched a lawsuit against Gopane, in which the latter had to apologise as well as pay R500 000 in damages. Although the YouTuber eventually posted an apology, he did not pay up.
Last Friday, 28 January, Matheba seemingly confirmed in two tweets that she’ll get Gopane’s money – well, most of it.
“I won!” she wrote in the first tweet, and “R300 000!!!” she wrote in the other.
Later that day, Matheba posted a statement, which read: “After hearing argument relating to the unlawful conduct of Mr Gopane the court upheld my claim for damages, and in a precedent setting judgment, ordered that Mr Gopane pay damages in the amount of R300 000 plus the legal costs of the action.”
And Gopane? Well, judging from a tweet he made, he’s already over it: “I don’t have time for delusional women. Back to work.”
