Britney Spears Blasts Christina Aguilera over Conservatorship Silence

Britney Spears is finally free and she’s making it known, especially after throwing shade at Christina Aguilera over her alleged refusal to speak up on Spears’ recent legal victory.

Aguilera was approached by a journalist at the 2021 Latin Grammy Awards last Thursday, 18 November, and asked if she had spoken to Spears following the much-publicised termination of her 13-year conservatorship.

Aguilera could only get out, “I can’t … but I’m happy for her”, before her publicist stepped in and whisked her away.

Spears saw the clip online, then proceeded to call out the “Dirrty” songwriter on her Instagram Stories the following night.

Captioning the short video, she said: “I love and adore everyone who supported me … but refusing to speak when you know the truth, is equivalent to a lie!”

She went on: “13 years [of] being in a corrupt, abusive system yet, why is it such a hard topic for people to talk about?”

In June, Aguilera had spoken in Spears’ defense, tweeting: “These past few days I’ve been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through.”

She elaborated: “It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish.”

Aguilera has yet to comment on Spears’ criticism.
