Britney Spears Finally Drops Long-Awaited Memoir
Nearly two years after escaping a strict conservatorship, Britney Spears is finally getting a chance to tell her side of the story in her newly released memoir, “The Woman In Me”, which hit shelves today, Tuesday 24 October.
The 41-year-old singer delves deep into her own history, looking all the way back to her teenage years when she was thrust into fame, opening the door to her three-year relationship with fellow pop icon, Justin Timberlake, and detailing the constrictive court-imposed order which placed her under her father’s rule for 13 years.
Within the autobiography, Spears also reveals how Timberlake broke up with her in 2002 – with a two-word text message: “It’s over,” – as well as the challenges she faced while pushing to gain recognition in the music industry as more than just a pretty face.
The “Toxic” hitmaker also shines the spotlight back on the tabloids who documented her life for years, pointing out that she had been subjected to inappropriate questions about her body when she was still underage.
Ultimately, the memoir acts as a warning, to both the media and the youth it puts under scrutiny, of the harsh implications that can arise if similar situations with future popstar generations are not handled correctly.
