Carling Knockout Cup: TS Galaxy Beat AmaZulu 3-2
TS Galaxy have booked themselves a place in the Carling Knockout Cup final after a tough yet thrilling match against AmaZulu FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday, 3 December.
Just two minutes into the game, Galaxy opened the scoreboard after Lehlohonolo Mojela struck the bottom corner of the goal box. Twenty-four minutes later, team-mate Higor Vidal successfully converted a penalty shot.
Not to be outdone by their visitors, AmaZulu kept the Rockets at bay for the rest of the first half; come the second half, Augustine Chidi Kwem managed to net a right-footed shot in the 76th minute to make the score 2-1.
Alas for AmaZulu, Galaxy’s Samir Nurkovic garnered the team’s final goal in the third minute of stoppage time; although Usuthu’s Sede Junior Dion responded with a goal of his own a minute later, the visitors ultimately walked away with a 3-2 victory.
Galaxy are scheduled to face Stellenbosch FC for the Carling Knockout trophy at the same venue next Saturday, 16 December.
