Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Nimrod Nkosi Talks About Leaked Voicenote
Technology has made the world a smaller place, and instant communications have made life so much more convenient. The other side of that coin, unfortunately, also means that gossip or one’s personal details being shared with complete strangers, and all without your knowledge.
Local star Nimrod Nkosi thought he was confiding in a close friend about something personal, but instead had his life shared on social media for all to see. Or in this case, hear.
The 52-year-old “Law, Love and Betrayal” actor was pouring his heart out about his challenges within South Africa’s entertainment industry and considering a change in work via voice note on WhatsApp to a close male friend. Shortly thereafter, online gossiper, Phil Mphela, shared the private communique last Friday, 1 May.
South Africa’s netizens quickly came to “Lotto Man’s” defense. Questioning Mphela’s morals and sharing their anger about how someone could blatantly share someone’s lowest moment for clicks and clout.
Among the outrage were a handful of heartfelt messages offering support to Nkosi and understanding for a challenging time.
The support extended to a few souls who highlighted the troubles that men typically face when opening up emotionally to anyone. A topic that usually faces flames for daring to show compassion for a fellow human being.
What’s more, there were a few eagle-eyed Twirra users who noticed something off about the curiously worded post and shared their thoughts. One such person was actress Rami Chuene who suspected it all to be an emotional ploy for a promo!
The “How to Ruin Christmas” actress wasn’t the only one who raised an eyebrow as others also questioned what the “something big” is, and if .
Despite the speculation, Nkosi caught wind of the hashtag that tweeps had started in support of him. He shared his appreciation in an Instagram post on Sunday, 3 May. In the video, he smiled as he thanked supporters for their kind words, reassured them that he was doing alright despite circumstances.
“The most important thing is, I suppose, proof of life. Is Nimrod Nkosi okay? Yes, I am okay. You can see me, I’m smiling, and I’m alright. My family’s alright. My boy is alright,” the actor shared, before commenting on the hashtag: “That was amazing. I’ve never seen such a thing. If you’re going to go ahead with that, then do not be surprised that you see me at your job.”
There, the well wishes and love continued.
So what do you reckon? Does Lotto Man have something cooking in the background? Is he putting on a brave face despite the weight of the world on his shoulders? We can only wait and see.
Until then, be kind to one another on these social media streets, because you never know what the next person is going through.
