Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Tweeps Celebrate/Question Babes Wodumo’s Birthday

Eish, Mzansi tweeps are a special kind of collective entity: when things go wrong, they like to spin it into a positive. But when things go right for some peeps, then others want to turn it into a circus of shenanigans.

Babes Wodumo is that kind of person who brings out both the best AND worst qualities of the South African Twitter(/X)sphere.

Take this Instagram post that she posted on Monday, 25 March, for example:

Happy birthday to the Gqom queen, but also our sympathies for the grief that’s obviously still lingering: her partner, Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, was 40-years-old when he passed away after he suffered a fatal stroke on Christmas Eve in December 2022.

This prompted some birthday wishes and commiserations from some of her Instagram fans and tweeps:

On the other side of the coin, though, it also brought out a few trolls who fancied themselves mathematicians:

Truuueee, but @bongisilinda_za and @MeL0̷_MG offered up their own explanations regarding the timeline discrepancies:

Very valid.

But then, you get some peeps like the infamous Musa Khawula who made things even MORE confusing by tweeting THIS out:

In response, tweeps were flummoxed, perplexed and downright unserious:

Thankfully, @TheeAzanian and @IstanNeneLeakes both tried to set the record straight, albeit in their own different ways:

*Sigh* Like we said, Mzansi tweeps are a special kind of entity.

A two-faced entity, if you will, and goodness knows which one you’re talking to (or which one is gonna respond!).
