Celebs Stun at the 2024 Met Gala

The masterminds behind the biggest trends in 2024 fashion came together to craft meticulous garments to adorn celebrities for the Met Gala last night, Monday 6 May.

A-listers paid homage to this year’s theme – The Garden of Time – with a shower of sparkles, taffeta and even petals and branches to create intricate dresses as part of the New York Metropolitan Museum’s fundraiser.

Designer John Galliano was one of the names on everyone’s lips, having created two of the evening’s finery. Socialite Kim Kardashian wowed in a sheath of metallic silver lace featuring a delicate trim with leaves and flowers.

Actress Zendaya, on the other hand, wore a peacock blue corsetted, mermaid-skirt dress with fruit embellishments by Maison Margiela – the label for which Galliano works under.

Two hours later, Zendaya returned to the bottom of the red carpet to debut a second dress from Galliano. This time, the enormous vintage black satin dress was paired with a bouquet headdress of roses.

Last year, the Hollywood icons raised an astonishing £17 million for the museum, making it the Met’s most lucrative fundraiser. It’s unclear how much has been collected this year, but it’s bound to go down in the history books as one of the most floral evenings.
