Chelsea Welcome Boca Juniors Star

Chelsea have bolstered their defensive options with the signing of Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors in a deal worth £15.6 million.

The 19-year-old Argentine centre-back, who has impressed in South America, has committed to a seven-year contract with the Blues, but will continue his development while on loan at Boca Juniors for the 2024/25 season.

Anselmino has been widely tipped as one of the brightest rising young talents in South American football. He joined Boca at the age of 12 and quickly progressed through their ranks, making his senior debut in June 2023.

The versatile defender, who can also operate in midfield, has made ten first-team appearances for the Argentine giants and scored his first senior goal in April.

This transfer marks Chelsea’s eighth signing of the summer as part of their ongoing strategy to secure top young talent globally. The Blues have also secured deals for other promising players, including Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian and Ecuadorian midfielder Kendry Paez, who will both join the club in 2025.

Despite a recent thigh injury, hopes remain high for Anselmino’s future as he continues to develop in his homeland before joining Chelsea next season.
