Chiefs Legends Announces Support For Arthur Zwane

Kaizer Chiefs coach, Arthur Zwane, has had a less than stellar 2022/23 season, with his side failing to lift any trophies and extending their bad luck streak to eight seasons in total. However, former Amakhosi star Thabo Mooki has shown support for his old teammate.

The 48-year-old retired midfielder spoke to a local publication during a legends match against Orlando Pirates in Limpopo on Sunday, 4 June, and offered his support to the beleaguered football coach.

“As you know, Arthur has been trying to build a team. He has been trying to work with the material that he has to make sure he finds the right combinations,” Mooki stated. “It will be difficult. It’s not easy with the pressure he has. But we will see how the next season pans out.”

Zwane was appointed manager of the glamour boys in May last year, but the club’s fans have set high expectations for him. Chiefs came fifth in the DStv Premiership and lost their grip in the semifinals of both the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup.

“Look, it’s also about patience. At the same time, the pressure is needed as well so that one doesn’t have to relax, you know the fans want results,” Mooki went on.

He concluded with: “It’s a process, it’s a journey and it’s not an easy thing.”
