DJ Dimplez, 29, Passes Away

South Africa’s entertainment industry has suffered yet another blow, as DJ Dimplez tragically passed away on Sunday, 6 March.

The family of Dimplez released a statement, in which they confirmed the cause of his untimely death.

“It is with deep sadness that the Mooi family announces the untimely passing of Boitumelo Athiel Mooi, popularly known as DJ Dimplez,” they wrote. “He passed away … from a sudden brain haemorrhage.

“We ask for your space and respect as we process Tumi’s tragic passing. Thank you for your understanding.”

The death of the 29-year-old – who has produced for and collaborated with hip hop heavyweights such as Cassper Nyovest, JR and Anatii – comes two days after he attended the memorial service of “Amatombazane” collaborator Riky Rick.

Fans and friends alike paid tribute to Dimplez online, with media personality Bonang Matheba writing on Twitter: “Oh, Tumi … such a sweet, sweet soul.”

Another tweep penned: “What an amazing human being. Always had time for people. Always friendly. Rest in peace.”
