DJ Warras Murder Case: Accused Receives Medical Treatment
The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court has adjourned the murder trial of Warrick Stock – the celebrated media personality known as DJ Warras – until next Tuesday, 13 January.
The accused, 44-year-old Victor Majola, made a brief appearance on Tuesday, 6 January, to confirm he had received medical attention while in custody at Johannesburg Prison.
Majola, who faces a charge of premeditated murder, previously alleged he was assaulted during his arrest in Soweto. His legal representative, Dumisani Mabunda, has publicly criticised the prosecution’s evidence, stating: “They actually struggled to place this matter on the court roll due to a lack of evidence.”
Mabunda further suggested the arrest was a result of police pressure following the fatal shooting of Stock outside a Johannesburg building on 16 December.
While charges against an unnamed female suspect were withdrawn, police continue to investigate the involvement of other individuals. Meanwhile, the Stock family requested the public to observe a solid white square social media tribute, and light candles to signal a call for judicial fairness.
Majola remains in custody pending his formal bail application next week, which the State intends to oppose.
