Doc Shebeleza, 51, Passes Away
The South African music industry has been dealt another blow following the passing of Kwaito legend, Doc Shebeleza, at the age of 51.
On Thursday, 9 January, the “S’Kumfete” hitmaker’s manager, Shakes Mavundla, confirmed that his client – real name Victor Bogopane – died that morning at his home in Fairlands, north of Johannesburg, Gauteng.
Just three days earlier, Doc Shebeleza had been released from a private hospital, where he had been recovering following his surgery in December. He was scheduled for a check-up next Monday, 13 January, before undergoing another procedure on 2 February.
The cause of death has yet to be disclosed, although the musician mentioned in an interview just days prior that he was dealing with jaundice related to pancreatic problems.
Doc Shebeleza is survived by his mother, Agnes Bogopane, as well as his two siblings, nine children and his grandchildren.
His death comes after beloved songstress, Winnie Khumalo, also 51, passed away on Tuesday, 7 January due to an undisclosed illness.
