Emma Roberts Makes Apology Over Transphobic Remarks

Emma Roberts has apologised to Angelica Ross for her use of transphobic language.

On Tuesday, 19 September, Ross – who is a transgender woman – revealed in an Instagram Live session that she and her fellow actress had been play-fighting on the set of “American Horror Story 1984” back in 2019 when the incident occurred.

Ross recalled: “[Director John J. Gray] says, ‘Okay, ladies, that’s enough. Let’s get back to work.’ [Roberts] then looks at me, and she goes, ‘Don’t you mean lady?’ And she turns around like this and covers her mouth.”

Despite her anger, Ross kept quiet and refused to speak to her 32-year-old co-star for the rest of the filming process.

“My blood is boiling because I’m, like, if I say something, it’s gonna be me that’s the problem.”

Luckily, per the 42-year-old’s “Pose” star’s tweet the following day (Wednesday, 20 September), Roberts privately reached out to her to make an apology.

“Thank you @RobertsEmma for calling and apologising, recognising your behaviour was not that of an ally,” the tweet reads. “I will leave the line open to follow up on your desire to do better and support social justice causes with your platform.”
