Evan Rachel Wood Accuses Marilyn Manson of Rape
Actress Evan Rachel Wood has alleged that her ex-fiance, singer Marilyn Manson, “essentially raped” her while filming a music video in 2007.
In the two-part documentary “Phoenix Rising”, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Sunday, 23 January, Wood expounds on her life and career, as well as her turbulent relationship with Manson, real name Brian Warner.
This includes her “traumatising experience” at the hands of the singer while filming the music video for “Heart-Shaped Glasses”; at the time, she was 19 and he was 38.
“I felt … like I had done something shameful, and I could tell that the crew was very uncomfortable and nobody knew what to do,” she explained. “I was coerced into a commercial sex act under false pretenses. That’s when the first crime was committed against me and I was essentially raped on camera.”
Wood went on: “We had discussed a simulated sex scene, but once the cameras were rolling, he started penetrating me for real. I had never agreed to that.”
They went public with their relationship that same year, before announcing – and breaking off – their engagement in 2010.
Wood’s latest revelation comes nearly a year after she accused Manson of abusing her. However, Manson has since denied her claims.
