Ex-Chiefs Star Joins Turkish Club

Turkish Süper Lig club, Tümosan Konyaspor, have struck a deal to sign former Kaizer Chiefs defender, Teenage Hadebe.

Per a statement released on Konyaspor’s official website last Friday, 9 February, Hadebe – who played for Amakhosi from 2017 to 2019 – signed an agreement, which stipulates that he will play for the club until the end of the 2023/2024 league season.

“The 28-year-old Zimbabwean defender will wear the number 15 jersey in our team. We welcome Teenage Hadebe and wish them success [in wearing] our green-white jersey,” the statement said.

Details regarding Hadebe’s salary are not yet known.

This signing comes two months after Hadebe left the Major League Soccer side, Houston Dynamo, for whom he played from 2021 to 2023.

Prior to his Dynamo stint, he plied his trade at Yeni Malatyaspor (another Turkish outfit) between 2019 and 2021.

With only 22 points to their name, Konyaspor are currently sitting in 19th position out of 20 on the Süper Lig rankings. Here’s hoping that Hadebe’s signing will turn their fortunes around, and fast!
