Fulham Relegated from EPL
Fulham FC have joined West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United in being relegated from the English Premier League (EPL).
The London-based outfit’s demotion comes after they clashed with visitors Burnley at Craven Cottage on Monday, 10 May – although a draw would have saved them from this fate, they went on to lose 2-0 to the Clarets following goals from Ashley Westwood and Chris Wood.
The defeat left Fulham in 18th spot on 27 points on the EPL table – 10 points behind Southampton with three games left to play, while Burnley rose from 17th to 14th on 39 points.
As a result, the Lily Whites have been relegated to second-tier English Football League Championship, much to manager Scott Parker’s disappointment.
After the match, Scott Parker bemoaned: “It has been looming, but it doesn’t hide the disappointment, hurt and sadness I feel tonight. It’s inevitable now. I am gutted … As a football club, we need to make good decisions and work out where we want to go.”
