Halle Berry Sued by Ex-UFC Fighter
A mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter is suing actress Halle Berry after being cut from the upcoming film, “Bruised”.
“Bruised” – which stars, and is directed by, Berry herself – tells the story of Jackie Justice, a disgraced MMA fighter and mother of one who is looking to make her big comeback.
Now, the actress is being sued by Cat Zingano, a former UFC star who – per reports as of Tuesday, 17 August – was promised a role in the flick, only to be cut from it completely.
According to Zingano’s lawsuit, Berry met her in July 2019 and promised her a role. To appear in the film, she turned down a UFC fight that would have put her in contention for a title match. The MMA promotion soon released her afterwards.
To add salt to the wounds, Berry allegedly “cut off communication” with the 39-year-old because “only UFC fighters could participate” in the flick.
Zingano – who now works for Bellator MMA – is suing the “Bruised” star for damages, although the monetary amount has not been specified.
Berry has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
