Injured Bucs Skipper Provides Health Update
Orlando Pirates captain, Innocent Maela, is confident that he will be available to play in the club’s upcoming MTN Cup final against AmaZulu FC.
Last Saturday, 29 October, Maela sustained a hamstring injury while playing against Kaizer Chiefs and was subsequently stretchered off the pitch. Pirates went on to lose the match 1-0.
Speaking to a local media outlet recently about the current status of his health, and whether or not he would be fit in time for the final, the 30-year-old skipper said, “I feel good though, and I am confident. But we’ll see as the week goes. There’s nothing that has been confirmed.”
However, his availability will be determined by the club’s expert medicos.
“I am still busy with the team doctors and physios. It’s still early to tell,” he explained.
The MTN Cup final between the Bucs and AmaZulu is scheduled to take place this Saturday, 5 November at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
