Jason Derulo Involved in Punch-Up Over Mistaken Identity
Like any celebrity, Jason Derulo loves it when fans chant his name – except when they get names mixed up, then he throws hands.
The 32-year-old singer allegedly took a swing at two unidentified men who mistook him for fellow RnB star, Usher, outside the ARIA Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada early on Tuesday morning, 4 January.
According to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) spokesperson, a fight broke out at approximately 02:22AM local time when one of the men trolled Derulo by yelling out: “Hey, Usher! F**k you!”
The “Ridin’ Solo” hitmaker had just stepped off an escalator then charged past a security rope at the heckler, throwing a punch that sent him to the floor; apparently, he slapped the second man just moments after assaulting the first.
Bodyguards had to pull Derulo away from the scrap, right before an LVMPD officer cuffed him and ushered him away.
According to reports, the men suffered minor injuries without hospitalisation, and did not press charges against the musician and was not arrested – however the hotel and casino has barred him from the premises until further notice.
Meanwhile, neither Derulo nor any ARIA representatives have commented on the incident.
