Kelly Khumalo Claps Back at Advocate Teffo
Singer Kelly Khumalo has broken her silence over the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, by responding to advocate Advocate Malesela Teffo’s claims that she was the one to pull the trigger.
In the latest episode of her reality television series, “Life With Kelly Khumalo”, which was released on Tuesday, 3 August, the singer labelled the claims as “disturbing” and “desperate”.
Advocate Teffo accused Khumalo of accidentally shooting her ex-boyfriend, footballer Senzo Meyiwa, during an attempted robbery at her home in Vosloorus, Gauteng in 2014.
“There are so many crime scenarios that South Africa has had. How desperate can one be to try and put me in jail for something that I did not do? My thing is that that advocate is desperate for attention,” the “Empini” hitmaker said.
At the moment, it’s unclear whether Teffo will continue to represent four of the five accused in the murder trial for the former Bafana Bafana captain. On 12 July, the advocate told the Pretoria High Court in Gauteng that he was stepping down from his role.
In a following letter to the State prosecutor, advocate George Baloyi, Teffo made several demands that he said would need to be met before he returned to the role. So far, none of these demands have been met yet.
