Luke Shaw: More Aggression, More Intensity, More Motivation
Manchester United defender, Luke Shaw, has bemoaned his side’s lack of aggression following their underwhelming 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday, 3 January.
Playing at Old Trafford, the Red Devils suffered their first defeat on home ground in 42 years as a strike from Wolves’ Joao Moutinho’s eight minutes from time secured them a tidy victory, one which also marked their first win at the stadium since 1980.
As a result, United are now lingering at seventh place on the Premier League standings with 31 points.
In a post-match interview, Shaw offered his thoughts on his team’s performance: “We have unbelievable quality … sometimes quality isn’t enough. We need to bring the intensity, we need to bring being more aggressive, and we need to bring more motivation. I think maybe from the outside today, it didn’t look like we had any of them three.”
He added: “We have time now to refocus. We’ve got a long training week and maybe the manager [Ralf Rangnick] can bring some more ideas on what he wants on the pitch.”
The Red Devils may get an opportunity to do so when they face Aston Villa next Monday, 10 January.
