Man City Eager for Tottenham Takedown
Football fans are in for a treat tonight, Friday 26 January, as Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur go head-to-head in the fourth round of the Football Association Challenge (FA) Cup.
The two teams will meet at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England with an enthusiastic home crowd ready to display their team colours.
Many Citizens fans were hoping to see their star striker, Erling Haaland, return to the field for the first time since early December, when the 23-year-old athlete suffered a foot injury.
“He’s not ready but he’s close,” Man City manager, Pep Guardiola, said during the pre-match press conference. “Training camp was good … the last two days here he trained, but he’s not perfect and we wait a little bit more,” he added.
The Lillywhites, on the other hand, will be looking forward to welcoming back midfielder James Maddison, who has been out of commission since early November last year, when he picked up an ankle injury.
“There aren’t too many in the league that are like him,” Spurs boss, Ange Postecoglou, said proudly during his own pre-match press conference. “[His return] just helps our ability to prepare for the challenges ahead. We have been through a difficult period,” Postecoglou acknowledged.
