Man City Sign Erling Haaland

Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland, is on his way to English Premier League side, Manchester City FC.

News of the 21-year-old Norwegian star’s signing was revealed in a statement released on City’s website on Tuesday, 10 May.

“Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the club on 1st July 2022,” the statement reads. “The transfer remains subject to the club finalising terms with the player.”

According to reports, the Citizens have agreed to pay his €60-million release clause. The length of his contract, however, has yet to be determined.

For the past few months, the club were heavily rumoured to pry Haaland away from Borussia Dortmund, for whom he has scored 85 goals in 88 appearances since joining them in January 2020 from RB Salzburg.

The striker has been hailed as the perfect replacement for record goalscorer Sergio Aguero, who left City last year – only time will tell if he lives up to the hype!
