Man United Suffer Humiliating 7-0 Defeat to Liverpool

Manchester United’s 7-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday, 5 March, was “a disgrace” and “embarrassing” according to Gary Neville, ex-captain of the Red Devils.

Liverpool claimed their victory at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, England, to the sound of exuberant fans.

The visitors put up a good fight for the first half, with Reds striker Cody Gakpo only claiming the first goal in the 43rd minute, assisted by left-back Andrew Robertson.

However – as Man United manager Erik ten Hag said during the post-game match – his team “lost their heads” in the second half.

Just two minutes into the second half, forward Darwin Núñez scored the second goal of the match – made possible by a quick pass from his team-mate, Harvey Elliott. Three minutes later, Gakpo reemerged to score the third goal, with assistance from forward Mohamed Salah.

Salah struck his own goal at the 66-minute mark with some quick footwork, while Núñez reappeared nine minutes later for the fifth goal.

In the 83rd minute, Salah made history and became Liverpool’s all-time top English Premier League scorer, with his 129th goal of 205 appearances in the league.

Midfielder Roberto Firmino put the final nail in Man United’s coffin with the seventh goal just five minutes later.

Ten Hag could only bemoan his “really unprofessional” team with such a crushing defeat.
