NAACP Image Awards Honour Tems, Davido

The annual image awards – hosted by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) – recognised several trendsetters including Nigerian icons Tems, Davido, and Lojay last night, Monday 11 March.

Day one of the three-day virtual event began yesterday, with actor Khleo Thomas on hand to host the proceedings. Songstress Tems walked away from the evening with the Outstanding International Song accolade for her renowned single “Me & U”.

To add further excitement to the event, Chris Brown’s recently released “Sensational” – which featured Davido and Lojay – claimed the Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (contemporary) award.

Several other international musicians were recognised throughout the evening, including Megan Thee Stallion, H.E.R., Usher, and more.

For those looking forward to celebrating more artists of colour, the proceedings continue virtually until Wednesday, 13 March, after which they will take place in person.

A formal dinner will be held the following evening, hosted by actress Sherri Shepherd, and a fashion show has been scheduled to take place on Friday, 15 March, hosted by actress Brandee Evans.
