Neymar Physically Confronts Referee in Colombia Match
PSG forward, Neymar da Silva Santos Jnr, narrowly escaped a red card after angrily bumping match official, Roberto Tobar, during Brazil’s 1-0 win against Colombia on Thursday, 11 November 2021.
Brazil became the first South American team to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, however, the incident between Neymar and Tobar left many supporters wondering why he was not punished.
During the first half of the game, the Selecao forward went down to the ground on several occasions due to fouls from opponents.
After being fouled again during the second half, the Brazilian lost his grip – he ran up to the match official and screamed directly in his face, in a squared up position.
Neymar was immediately handed a yellow card, and was lucky to not have received a red, as most officials would have sent him off immediately.
