Pirates Seek Agreement with Ouaddou
Orlando Pirates are preparing to hold crucial, high-stakes discussions with head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, with club hierarchy highly optimistic about finding common ground to continue their partnership. The Moroccan tactician recently guided the Soweto giants to a historic domestic treble, including their first Premier League title in 14 years.
Despite the monumental success, uncertainty sparked when an emotionally drained Ouaddou hinted at a potential exit. However, the club values his work immensely and is eager to retain him ahead of their upcoming CAF Champions League campaign.
The pressure from fans and former players to keep the title-winning manager is mounting. Reflecting on the delicate situation, former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates star Sibusiso Zuma publicly urged the club’s board to do whatever it takes to secure Ouaddou’s signature for the upcoming season.
“Building towards the championship takes a long time, in fact, years,” Zuma stated during a media briefing. “They have a very good coach, they have got Ouaddou, who was able to plug in and continue. Pirates can’t take that for granted. They have to do everything, even if it means breaking the bank to keep the guy.”
