Pogba Boots Man U to Top of EPL Table
Paul Pogba showed his mettle during his side’s 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night, 20 January.
Manchester United had a shaky start as Cottagers player, Ademola Lookman, started the hosts with a goal within the opening minutes of the game.
However, the Red Devils revived a little later when striker Edinson Cavani slipped past Fulham goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola, to level the scoreboard in the 21st minute.
The second half then saw 27-year-old Pogba put his side ahead in the 65th minute after he managed to defeat Areola with an unbelievable shot.
Man U boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, could not have been happier when the final whistle blew, and praised the “improvement in mentality” of his players.
Pogba was also pleased with both the “beautiful” goal and win, saying: “I didn’t expect it with the left foot like this, but if you don’t try, then you don’t score.”
The top of the English Premier League table sees Manchester United with 40 points, followed closely by Manchester City with 38 points.
