Portable Fires Back: “I’m Lil Wayne, Not Asake!”

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has dismissed online comparisons between his facial tattoos and those of fellow artist Asake.

The conversation began when Asake unveiled new tattoos on Instagram, featuring dollar signs and the word “Believe”, sparking mixed reactions and drawing attention to the similarities with Okikiola’s signature ink.

However, the 30-year-old rapper was far from flattered by the comparisons. Taking to X, the outspoken Okikiola made it clear that his style is unique, and more reminiscent of American rapper Lil Wayne.

In a fiery video message posted on Tuesday 14 January, Okikiola said: “Don’t compare me to Asake. I don’t look like Asake. I look like Lil Wayne. Stop comparing me to an overrated artiste.”

The statement adds another chapter to Okikiola’s reputation for bold, unfiltered opinions.

While Asake’s fans celebrated his new look, Portable made it clear he is not interested in being likened to his colleague, asserting his individuality and distinct style.

The tattoo debate has sparked light-hearted discussions across social media platforms, but for Okikiola, there’s no confusion — he’s all about Lil Wayne vibes, not Asake comparisons.
