Rangers Seal Transfer Deal For Ben Davies
Rangers FC have apparently struck a deal with Liverpool to sign centre-back Ben Davies.
According to reports, the Scottish outfit have signed Davies on a transfer deal worth £4 million – £3 million guaranteed, with the rest to be added in bonuses, based on his overall performance and the number of games played – although the length of the contract is currently unknown.
The 27-year-old Englishman joined Liverpool from Preston last year for £500 000, although he spent the entirety of his 2021/2022 campaign on loan at Sheffield United.
According to reporter Vinny O’Connor, several clubs including Blackburn, Middlesbrough, Stoke and Burnley were all interested in attaining Davies’ services before Rangers put ink to paper.
“That level of interest clearly illustrates Ben’s reputation in the game,” says O’Connor. “He’s been a consummate professional while at Liverpool and was popular in the dressing room.
“[Reds boss] Jurgen Klopp is disappointed it didn’t work out as had been hoped when he joined, but has remained engaged with Ben throughout.”
