Rema Redeems Coachella Set with Show-Stopping Return

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema lit up Coachella on Sunday, 20 April, with a dynamic and theatrical performance that erased the memory of his earlier technical mishaps.

The Grammy-nominated artist had faced sound issues during his debut set in Indio, California, with malfunctioning equipment and time constraints cutting his set short.

Returning with renewed energy, Rema captivated the crowd from the moment he appeared atop a faux mountain, brandishing a sword in a striking visual flourish.

Backed by a lively ensemble and seamless production, the 24-year-old rapper powered through hits including “Calm Down”, “Yayo”, “Charm”, and “Ozeba”, blending chart-toppers with crowd-pleasers.

The performance followed a warm-up featuring Davido’s “Unavailable” single and included playful crowd engagement, particularly during his verse from “Favourite Girl”. With strong vocals and a commanding presence, Rema showcased the vibrancy and appeal of Afrobeats.

As one of the festival’s closing acts, his second performance not only marked a personal redemption but also stood as a triumph for Nigerian music on the world stage. Alongside fellow artists like Seun Kuti and Tems, Rema’s moment at Coachella 2025 reinforced Afrobeats’ unstoppable rise in the global music scene.
