Riveiro Remains Optimistic Amid 0-0 Draw
Orlando Pirates head coach, Jose Riveiro, is keeping up a positive front following a disappointing draw to Richards Bay on Saturday, 25 November.
Playing against the hosts at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban, the Buccaneers maintained a strong possession (69%) of the ball throughout the game, although their efforts ultimately came to naught – specifically 0-0, in this case.
On top of this dismal score, the Bucs were down to ten men after midfielder Thabang Monare was shown a red card at the 90th minute following an alleged foul on a ball boy.
Despite this poor performance, Riveiro is still feeling positive about the team’s overall output, per his post-match comments: “We tried to do our best, but the team is still competing, offering a good game every time we moved to the field, so there is nothing wrong; it is just [we have to] start the game better.
“I don’t worry about the goals, I’m more concerned about the way we start the game. That, for me, is not the right way.”
Perhaps Riveiro ought to start worrying about the goals, as Pirates are currently lingering in ninth place with 16 points on the Premier Soccer League rankings.
