Sbahle Mpisane Faces Reckless Driving Charge

Fitness guru Sbahle Mpisane has fallen foul of the law following a bout of reckless driving during the festive season.

According to reports, Mpisane – who is also the step-daughter of prominent businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize – was arrested in December last year for “reckless and negligent driving” while travelling through Midrand, Johannesburg.

“The incident happened on Maxwell Drive in Midrand,” confirmed Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo. “A 30-year-old woman was arrested and charged.”

Mpisane was subsequently detained in a holding cell for several hours before being released on bail for an unspecified monetary amount.

On 29 December, she briefly appeared in the Midrand magistrate’s court; she is currently awaiting the date of her official court hearing.

Mpisane’s arrest comes six years after she was involved in a near-fatal car accident in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: the incident caused her multiple bodily injuries and memory loss, although she has since largely recovered from them.
