Sergio Aguero is Leaving Man City
Manchester City’s record goalscorer, Sergio Aguero, will be leaving the Citizens when his contract expires at the end of the 2020/2021 season.
Khaldoon Al Mubarak – the club’s chairperson – announced the news in a statement on Monday, 29 March.
He wrote: “[Aguero’s] contribution to Manchester City over the last 10 years cannot be overstated. His legend will be indelibly etched into the memories of everyone who loves the Club [sic] and maybe even in those who simply love football.”
Aguero himself took to Twitter to also confirm the news of his departure.
He wrote: “A huge sense of satisfaction and pride remains in me for having played with Manchester City for a whole ten seasons … with major achievements, throughout which I was able to become the top historic goalscorer and forging an indestructible bond with all those who love this club – people who will always be in my heart.”
The 32-year-old Argentinian striker joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2011. In 384 appearances, he has scored a record-breaking 257 goals, and helped the club win four English Premier League titles.
