Simone Biles to Joe Biden: “Make Some Things Shake”
American gymnast Simone Biles has called out President Joe Biden in the aftermath of the US elections.
On Wednesday, 6 November, Republican candidate Donald Trump emerged victorious in the elections over Democratic presidential nominee, Kamala Harris, after he secured 277 Electoral College votes.
This marks a second term in the White House for the 78-year-old businessman, after serving as president from 2017 to 2021.
Many celebrities have had mixed reactions to the election outcome, including Biles, who has been openly critical of Trump. As such, she took to Twitter/X on Wednesday to address the current president.
“Mr Biden, I need you to stand up, straighten your back and make some things shake before your departure. xoxo the women in america [sic],” she wrote.
The 27-year-old Olympic gold medallist also hopped onto her Threads account to post two simple messages: “I’m so sorry, America” and “We deserve better.”
Biden remains the executive head of the US federal government until 20 January 2025 when Trump will be inaugurated as the 47th president. During this time, he can continue to take action on various policy issues and shape the administration’s agenda.
This could include improving women’s reproductive freedom, a vision promoted by Harris throughout her election campaign.
